A Weekend with the Glenns

We took a little weekend trip to see our friends Dan and Nicki and their son Jonah. Dan served as the youth minister at our church while he and Nicki were engaged. We hung out and became friends before they married and moved away to seminary. We've kept in touch through the years and have seen each other from time to time. We decided a few weeks ago that we'd get together this weekend. Sara Madalin must have realized she'd need as much rest and energy as she could muster, because she slept all the way from Brookhaven to Vidalia.

It took Jonah and Sara Madalin a little while to warm up to each other. He was a little territorial. And she, of course, was a little aggressive. By the time we left, they were in love.

Dan and Nicki decided to really show us a big time. They treated us to a 5-star meal - at Sonny's Pizza.

But the highlight of the weekend - well, aside from watching their WEDDING VIDEO and getting up to cook our own breakfast - was hearing Brother Dan preach Sunday morning. He's pastor at First Baptist Vidalia.

After church, I got to meet another blogging friend, Jami. Jami and I have read each other's blogs for a while now. She has left many sweet comments. It was so nice to finally meet her.

And here are two of the most beautiful children I've ever seen. We took so many pictures of them. Nicki kept saying, "We'll use this at the wedding reception in 25 or 30 years."

And seriously, he was trying to kiss her here - with a little coaching from his mother. That's a look that, if by some chance they do marry each other one day, he better get used to seeing.

Here's Nicki and her little man.

And here's Nicki with my sweet baby girl.

Both our families after church.

We enjoyed our time together. We laughed pretty much the whole time. Whether it was watching the wedding video. Or seeing how Jonah and Sara Madalin interact. Or laughing at other people's status updates on Facebook. I nearly fell down laughing several times. Nicki is probably one of the funniest people I've ever met. And it's great to have people in our life who, no matter the time that passes or the distance between us, we can pick up right where we left off the next time we're together. We can't wait to see them again. Hopefully, it will be before our children start discussing a wedding date.

Isn't it great having friends like that..."when you see them, you can just pick up where you left off!"

I love the image of Sara Madalin looking at Jonah like he has lost his mind! The photo of me, not so much...which why I guess I am usually behind the camera (not in front of it. LOL!

Again it was nice meeting you and seeing that beautiful baby girl in person!
