Flashback Friday - Wedding Anniversary, Part 1

Our 13th wedding anniversary is in a couple weeks so I thought I would do a flashback this week and next week to look at us through each year of our marriage.

Reagan and I met on my 21st birthday. On a blind date. And what do you know, blind dates DO work. He proposed to me a year and a half later and we were married in November 1996.

He didn't tell me where we were going on our honeymoon until we were home that evening after our wedding. The destination was Hawaii. It was a wonderful surprise.

For our first wedding anniversary we went to Cancun. Funny thing - I have NO pictures of us together that trip. But this next picture was taken for our church directory the night before we left for Cancun.

For our 2nd anniversary, we flew to San Juan and boarded Rhapsody of the Seas for our first cruise. We visited Aruba, St. Thomas and St. Marteen. One of our favorite things to do on that trip was being part of a working crew on a racing yacht.

For our 3rd anniversary, we went back to Hawaii. We didn't actually go on our anniversary, but we counted it as that because it was our big vacation of the year.

In 2000, we flew back to St. Thomas. It was one of our shortest trips. The main thing I remember about this trip was the big lizards that were all over the grounds of our resort. They would walk right up to us. I was terrified.

We went on a road trip to Gatlinburg, TN in 2001. We stayed at a beautiful bed & breakfast. I spent a lot of time in the jacuzzi tub and in the bed with the fireplace on. I also did a little bit of Christmas shopping. GREAT vacation in my opinion.

For our 6th anniversary we went to Universal Studios in Orlando, FL. We also visited SeaWorld where we had dinner with Shamu. But the best thing we did, the most amazing thing, was we got to see a space shuttle launch. We drove out to Cape Canaveral 2 different nights to see the launch. It was scrapped the first night we went because of weather. It was kind of a good thing because we were actually watching at a site about 15 miles away from the launch site. We would have been able to see the launch with no problem. But it was rescheduled and we went back, on the night of our anniversary, and went out to the area about 3-5 miles from the launch site near the museum where hundreds of people gather to watch. It was a great experience that I can't even describe in words. We hope to see another launch someday.

We've been blessed to experience so many fun things during our marriage. It's so amazing to look back and see how we've changed - not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally as well. God has been so gracious, merciful, and good to us.

I have other photos and stories from past anniversary trips. I'll share them next Friday.
