The Memphis Zoo

Thursday morning we took Sara Madalin to the Memphis Zoo. She loves animals and we knew she would enjoy seeing them all there. It was a little cool, but sunny, so it wasn't too bad.

We got there around 11:00 and decided to eat a little lunch before playing. Usually, Sara Madalin is lying down for a nap around 11:30. Our plan was to keep her up, wear her out, and let her sleep all the way home.

Our girl loves some pizza.

We sat at a window table. Right outside our window were two monkeys and they'd come up to the window and look in. Sara Madalin loved it.

After we ate, we played on the play ground for a few minutes. She wasn't as interested in the playground equipment as she was in collecting all the wood chips that were on the ground.

We did get her to climb in the playground a little. But notice, she still has a wood chip or two in her hands.

She and I climbed up as high as we could.

And then we slid down the slide. She loved it. We did it several times.

My high school mascot was a tiger. I've always thought tigers were beautiful. Here's Reagan and Sara Madalin in front of a couple tigers.

You can barely see them, but here are my peeps hanging out with the prairie dogs.

Here are the quack-quacks. When Sara Madalin saw them, she tried to hike her leg up and climb over that fence. We had to hold her back. She wanted so badly to touch them. They weren't quite as happy to see her.

She saw chick-chicks, pigs, horseys, and finally cows. She was in heaven.

And, even though she was pretty much pushed to her limit, we had to stop by and see the gorillas.

Two years ago, when Sara Madalin's birthmother was on a field trip here with her son, her water broke and Sara Madalin was born the next day. When we told Sayra that we were going to the zoo Thursday, she said we needed to be sure and take a picture here.

As you can see, by this time our girl was pooped. She slept the entire way home. I think she had a great little mini-vacation.

What a great field trip. I am so looking forward to getting outside more now that the weather is turning nice.
