To everything there is a season

I know that many of those who read our blog have prayed for and asked about Reagan's mom since January when she was first admitted into the hospital. Since being released from the hospital about a month ago, she has been in a nursing facility. Our hope was that, while in this facility, she could participate in therapy and regain enough strength to return home. Sadly, that didn't happen.

Last Monday, she began to have breathing difficulty again to the point that she was re-admitted to the hospital. She also began to accumulate fluid as she had prior to her last hospital admittance. Her condition has worsened over the past week.

Yesterday, Reagan called and said that her cardiologist had come by and spoken with his dad and brother who were at the hospital at the time. She told them that based on what she was seeing, Mrs. Brown likely had hours to several days of life left. While she can't predict exactly when Mrs. Brown will pass, she did state that she recommended releasing her to hospice care, and the family taking her home. That's what Mrs. Brown has wanted for weeks. To go home, that is. So, preparations began to be made for her to go home one last time.

That's where she is now. She's as comfortable as can be. She's got her family close. Many of her friends and extended family have been by to visit. And her dog Sam has even gotten to nap in the bed next to her. He's missed her.

If there's one thing I hope I've made clear through my blogging, it's that our faith in God is strong. We believe His word is true. We trust in Him. Scripture tells us:

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.
A time to be born, and a time to die...
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance...
Ecclesiastes 3: 1-4

While we enjoy, and have had many times of laughter and dancing shown on this blog, it seems our family is in the middle of "a time to mourn." But just as scripture says, it is but a season. We know that a season of laughter and dancing will soon come again - for us and Reagan's mom.

Right now, during this brief season, I think I will take a break from blogging to be with our family. We would greatly appreciate your prayers.
