Bend it like Beckham

Saturday morning Sara Madalin had a soccer game bright and early. It was 32 degrees when we left our house. And windy. Reagan and I put on three layers of clothes, and ski coats. Sara Madalin had on tights, leggings, knee socks, an undershirt, a turtle neck and her coat. She also wore a hat and gloves. It was really, really, cold.

Here's Sara Madalin, her coach, and a few of the other girls warming up before the game. SM is in the green coat.

She's asked for eye black since before the season started. She saw it somewhere, and I can't remember where. So, I got her some at Target Friday night. I put a little on her before the game. She loved it.

Even though it was extremely cold, Sue-Sue came out to support our girl.

As always, break time was the highlight of the game for her. We are really going to have to stop bringing snacks, or at least letting her know we brought them. It distracts her too much. And if there is one thing she DOESN'T need, it's more distractions. Here we are at break time.

Sara Madalin scored about 4 or 5 goals Saturday. The problem is, she scored most of them for the other team. She just kicks the ball. Sometimes she kicks toward her goal, sometimes toward the other goal.

Even though it was cold out, the day was beautiful and SM had a great time. We've just got to work on all the distractions. She gets sidetracked by the smallest things. I hope it's just that she's young and new to this. Because she really does well when she focuses.
